Lunar Mansion Report, November 17, 2025 to November 23, 2025

  This is an entry in a continuing series of posts looking at the Moon's position and condition in the week ahead with an eye to the Mansions of the Moon. This is an exercise to help me track the speed of the Moon, organize my thoughts on the Mansions, and think about the practical applications. 

All times are for me locally, United States Pacific Time. I will be making note of the Moon's phase, speed, and Mansion position in my assessment. Currently, I'm not considering aspects with other planets.

Lunar Mansion Report, November 17, 2025 to November 23, 2025.

Monday, November 17th, 2025. The Moon is in Azubene, the Horns of the Scorpion, at the beginning of November 17th. At 5:03am the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Alichlil, the Crown of the Scorpion. The phase is Waning Crescent, which is wrathful and best for works of cutting and abrupt endings. 

The Moon will travel through Alichlil for 26 hours exactly, which is very slow. It is also 12 minutes longer than the previous Mansion so the Moon is slowing down. A slow Moon can delay the effects of magic but may also make those effects longer lasting.

The wrathful powers of Azubene include destruction of merchandise, to put discord between friends, to debauch a woman you desire, to impede those who journey so that they never reach their destination, cause hatred between friends (Latin Picatrix), damage merchant shops, separating friends and spouses, the severe punishment of a wife if the husband so desires, harm a traveling adversary, create discord between partners (Gayat al Hakim), and hindereth journeys and wedlock, harvests and merchandise (Agrippa). Azubene is the first half of the Via Combusta, the Fiery Way which is detrimental to the Moon and enhances the wrathful aspects.

The image for Azubene in the Latin Picatrix is a man holding scales and weighing. The Horns of the Scorpion became the claws of the scorpion which became the cups of a scale. Discernment, judgement, and valuation are the keywords for Azubene. In its wrathful forms, it can obscure the value of things like relationships and ruin business deals. In Nigel Jackson's Celestial Magic this Mansion is given the power of enhancing sciomancy and necromantic operations to communicate with the shades of the dead. 

The wrathful aspects of Alichlil are expelling thieves (Ibn Hatim), improving deception, besieging cities (Latin Picatrix), and for making images for discord and any evil (Liber Lunae). Alichlil is the second half of the Via Combusta, the Fiery Way, which is detrimental to the Moon and lends power to its wrathful aspects.

The image of Aliklil in the Latin Picatrix is a monkey holding its hands up above its shoulders. I imagine this gesture to resemble a criminal putting their hands up at being apprehended. The monkey and its ability to imitate is a symbol for deception. 

The Moon is in Alichlil at the end of October 17th. 

Tuesday, October 18th, 2025. The Moon is in Alichlil, the Crown of the Scorpion, when October 18th begins. The Moon moves into the next Mansion, Alcalb, the Heart of the Scorpion at 7:03am. The phase us Waning Crescent which is best for works of death and destruction. 

The Moon will travel through Alcalb for exactly 26 hours. This is very slow and it is the same speed the Moon traveled through the previous Mansion so speed holds steady. A slow Moon can make magic last longer but it may also delay the effects of magic.

The wrathful aspects of Alichlil are expelling thieves (Ibn Hatim), improving deception, besieging cities (Latin Picatrix), and for making images for discord and any evil (Liber Lunae). Alichlil is the second half of the Via Combusta, the Fiery Way, which is detrimental to the Moon and lends power to its wrathful aspects.

The wrathful powers of Alcalb are creating disagreements between partners (Gayat al Hakim), to conspire against kings, and to wreak vengence (Latin Picatrix and Agrippa). There is also the power to expel serpents and hurtful beasts. The Latin Picatrix also ascribes the healing of fevers and ailments of the belly to his Mansion. In its wrathful state it could inflict these maladies. 

The image for Alcalb in the Latin Picatrix is an adder with its tail above its head. A venomous snake is dangerous enough but with its tail above its head it takes on the defensive qualities of a scorpion and so cannot be attacked from in front or in the rear.

The Moon is in Alcalb at the end of November 18th.

Wednesday, November 19th, 2025. The Moon is in Alcalb, the Heart of the Scorpion, at the beginning of November 19th. At 9:03am the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Axaula, the Sting of the Scorpion. The phase at the beginning of the day is Waning Crescent, which supports works of obfuscation and removal. At 5:04am the Moon moves into within 8 of the Sun and becomes combust, accentuating the Moon’s wrathfulness. At 10:47pm the Moon makes a conjunction aspect with the Sun, the New Moon, and for a little over a minute becomes very beneficial, the Cazimi. Once the moment has passed the Moon becomes combust, and wrathful, again. 

The Moon will travel through Axaula for 26 hours and 2 minutes. This is very slow and is the slowest transit this cycle. It is 2 minutes longer than the previous Mansion so the Moon is slowing down. A slow Moon may delay the effects of magic but may also make those effects longer lasting. 

The wrathful powers of Alcalb are creating disagreements between partners (Gayat al Hakim), to conspire against kings, and to wreak vengence (Latin Picatrix and Agrippa). There is also the power to expel serpents and hurtful beasts. The Latin Picatrix also ascribes the healing of fevers and ailments of the belly to his Mansion. The wrathful powers of Axaula are isolating cities, defeating enemies, making a person lose all his money, separation and alienation, breaking and destroying ships, creating discord between partners (Gayat al Hakim), to besiege cities and take them, to destroy the wealth of whoever you please, to expel men from a place, to separate and destroy the wealth of allies, to break and destroy ships (Latin Picatrix), and to annul contracts (Shams al Marif).

The image in the Latin Picatrix for Axaula is a woman with her hands covering her face. The special power of Axaula is as a purgative, especially to bring on menstrual bleeding. Repulsion, expulsion, and forceful pushing are all under the influence of Axaula. 

The Moon is in Axaula at the end of November 19th.

Thursday, November 20th, 2025. The Moon is in Axaula, the Sting of the Scorpion, at the beginning of November 20th. At 11:05am the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Alnaym, the Beam. The phase is Waxing Crescent but the Moon begins the day combust, and thusly wrathful, but at 4:31pm the Moon moves out of the 8 orb and becomes beneficial again. 

The Moon will transit Alnaym for 25 hours and 57 minutes. This is very slow but it is 5 minutes less than the previous Mansion so the Moon is now beginning to speed up. A slow Moon may delay the effects of magic but may also make those effects last longer. 

The wrathful powers of Axaula are isolating cities, defeating enemies, making a person lose all his money, separation and alienation, breaking and destroying ships, creating discord between partners (Gayat al Hakim), to besiege cities and take them, to destroy the wealth of whoever you please, to expel men from a place, to separate and destroy the wealth of allies, to break and destroy ships (Latin Picatrix), and to annul contracts (Shams al Marif).

The beneficial powers of Alnaym include the discipline of riding animals that are hard to tame, speedy travel and making the distance shorter, bring a concerned person home, promoting friendship (Ghayat al Hakim), to tame wild and disobedient beasts, to bring those traveling in wagons swiftly back again, for men to come wherever you wish, for good people to be joined together, fortune in hunting (Latin Picatrix), and the arousal of peace, love, and friendship (Liber Lunae).

The image of Alnaym in the Latin Picatrix is a centaur shooting a bow. The power ascribed to it is for finding and taking whatever you hunt. It is also for taming wild beasts.

The Moon is in Alnaym at the end of November 20th. 

Friday, November 21st, 2025. The Moon is in Alnaym, the Beam, at the beginning of November 21st. At 1:02pm the Moon moves into the next Mansion Albelda, the Wasteland. The phase is Waxing Crescent, which is best for works of beginnings and initiations. 

The Moon will travel through Albelda for 25 hours and 50 minutes. This is slow but it is 7 minutes less than the previous Mansion so the Moon is speeding up. A slow Moon can delay the effects of magic but may make those effects longer lasting. 

The beneficial powers of Alnaym include the discipline of riding animals that are hard to tame, speedy travel and making the distance shorter, bring a concerned person home, promoting friendship (Ghayat al Hakim), to tame wild and disobedient beasts, to bring those traveling in wagons swiftly back again, for men to come wherever you wish, for good people to be joined together, fortune in hunting (Latin Picatrix), and the arousal of peace, love, and friendship (Liber Lunae).

Janus was the Roman god of the threshold, the place in between, and marked passages. In my experience Albelda is a Mansion of waiting, holding, and immobility.

The Moon is in Albelda at the end of November 21st.

Saturday, November 22nd, 2025. The Moon is in Albelda, the Wasteland, at the beginning of November 22nd. At 2:52pm the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Sadahaca, the Lucky Star of the Slaughterers. The phase is Waxing Crescent which supports works of birth and renewal. 

The Moon will travel through Sadahaca for 25 hours and 38 minutes. This is slow but it is 12 minutes less than the previous Mansion so the Moon is speeding up. A slow Moon may make magic take longer to manifest but it may also make those effects longer lasting. 

The beneficial powers of Albelda are stabilizing buildings, increasing crops, retaining assets and live stock, ensuring the safety of travelers (Ghayat al Hakim), to increase harvests, make a profit and firmly keep money, to go safely through the countryside (Latin Picatrix), safeguard travelers, and house-protection (Celestial Magic), and works of cooperation and silence (Liber Lunae).

The slaughterers are those who make the animal sacrifice to the gods. During this Mansion making entreaties to heaven and making offerings to seek favors and boons are greatly enhanced as are devotional acts of giving.

The Moon is in Sadahaca at the end of November 22nd. 

Sunday, November 23rd, 2025. The Moon is in Sadahaca, the Lucky Star of the Slaughterers. At 4:30pm the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Zaadebola, the Lucky Star of the Devourers. The phase is Waxing Crescent, which is best for works of opening and revelation. 

The Moon will travel across Zaadebola for 25 hours and 21 minutes. This is slow but it is 17 minutes less than the previous Mansion so the Moon is speeding up. A slow Moon can delay the effects of magic but may also make those effects longer lasting. 

The beneficial powers of Sadahaca include the treatment and recovery from disease, the release of captives (Ghayat al Hakim), cure illness, to cause goodwill between allies, to escape safely from enemies, secure against slander (Latin Picatrix), and liberation from restrictions or limits. (Celestial Magic).

The image for Zaadebola in the Latin Picatrix is a cat with a dog’s head. The head and the body are at odds, each wanting to do violence to the other. Ultimately, neither is left the winner. Pitting a group against its leaders for the purpose of destroying the entire group would be a wrathful work that is strengthened in this Mansion.

Lunar Mansion Report, November 10, 2025 to November 16, 2025.

Monday, November 10th, 2025. The Moon is in Atarfa, the Glance of the Lion, when November 10th begins. At 2:06am the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Algebha, the Brow of the Lion. The phase is Waning Gibbous, which supports works of diminishment and decline. 

The Moon will travel through Atarfa for 21 minutes and 49 minutes. This is fast but it is 38 minutes longer than the previous Mansion so the Moon is slowing down. A fast Moon can make magic happen quickly but may also make magic dissipate quickly. 

 The wrathful powers of Atarfa are to destroy crops, to make unfortunate those who travel, to do evil to all men,  to cause division and hatred between allies, to cause infirmity (Latin Picatrix), and to inflict failure and weakness (Celestial Magic).

The image in the Latin Picatrix for Atarfa is a eunuch covering his eyes with his hands. The wrathful Atarfa promotes jealousy and works similar to the Evil Eye. 

The Moon is in Atarfa at the end of August 19th.

The wrathful qualities enhanced in Algebha include harming an enemy or traveler, to matters worse for captives (Gayat al Hakim), extracting a fetus (Ibn Hatim), and the destruction of enemies (Latin Picatrix).

The image in the Latin Picatrix for Algebha is a lion's head. The Mansion embodies the symbolic qualities of a lion; strength, power, and nobility. The traditional indicator star for this Mansion is Regulus, Cor Leonis, the Heart of the Lion, also called the King Star. Regulus is one of the 15 Behenian Stars. Agrippa writes, "Under Cor Leonis they made an image of a lion, cat, or the figure of a respected man sitting in a chair: these make a man temperate, keep anger away, and give grace."

The Moon is in Algebha at the end of November 10th.

Tuesday, November 11th, 2025. The Moon is briefly in Algebha, the Brow of the Lion, at the beginning of November 11th. At 12:39am the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Azobra, the Mane of the Lion. Then, at 1155pm, the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Asarfa, the Tail of the Lion. The phase at the beginning of November 11th is Waning Gibbous, which is best for works of subtraction and division. At 9:28pm the Moon makes a square aspect with the Sun and the phase changes to Waning Crescent, which is best for works of cutting and death. 

The Moon will travel through Algebha for 22 hours and 33 minutes. This is fast but it is 44 minutes longer than the previous Mansion so the Moon is slowing down. The Moon will travel through Azobra for 23 hours and 16 minutes. This is on the fast side of average but it is 43 minutes longer than the previous Mansion so the Moon continues to slow down. A fast Moon may hasten magic but it can also hasten its fading. 

The wrathful qualities enhanced in Algebra include harming an enemy or traveler, to make matters worse for captives (Gayat al Hakim), extracting a fetus (Ibn Hatim), and the destruction of enemies (Latin Picatrix).

The image in the Latin Picatrix for Algebha is a lion's head. The Mansion embodies the symbolic qualities of a lion; strength, power, and nobility. The image for this Mansion in the Latin Picatrix is a man riding the back of a lion holding its ear in his hand. In its most beneficial aspect the lion is fully controlled by the figure on its back and adds its ferocity and strength to the figure’s bearing (despite the figure’s somewhat precarious position). This concept of being next to danger but safe from it is a big theme of Azobra.

The wrathful powers of Azarfa are to inflict harm on a person by causing them to lose their assets, breaking ships (Gayat al Hakim), to cause separation, enmity, and hatred between kinsfolk, destroy a place (Ibn Hatim), destruction of riches and ships, separation of lovers (Latin Picatrix), and hindereth seamen (Agrippa). 

In the Latin Picatrix the image for this Mansion is a dragon fighting a man made in black lead. It is described as an image of breaking and separating. In its beneficial form this image could be used to break from addiction or unhealthy situations or relationships.

The Moon is in Azarfa at the end of November 11th. 

Wednesday, November 12th, 2025. The Moon is in Asarfa, the Tail of the Lion, at the beginning of November 12th. At 11:55pm the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Alawway, the Barker. The phase is Waning Crescent, which is best for works of destruction and ruin. 

The Moon will travel through Asarfa for 24 hours exactly. This is on the slow side of average and it is 44 minutes longer than the pervious Mansion so the Moon is slowing down. A slow Moon may delay the effects of magic but may also make those effects longer lasting. 

 The wrathful powers of Azarfa are to inflict harm on a person by causing them to lose their assets, breaking ships (Gayat al Hakim), to cause separation, enmity, and hatred between kinsfolk, destroy a place (Ibn Hatim), destruction of riches and ships, separation of lovers (Latin Picatrix), and hindereth seamen (Agrippa).

Thursday, November 13th, 2025. The Moon is in Alawway, the Barker, at the beginning of November 13th. The Moon continues to transit Alawway for the entirety of November 13th. The phase is Waning Crescent which is best for works of oppression and erasure. 

The Moon will travel across Alawway for 24 hours and 38 minutes. This is slow and it is 38 minutes longer than the previous Mansion so the Moon is slowing down. A slow Moon can delay the effects of magic but may also make those effects longer lasting. 

A wrathful Alawway can be called upon to bind nobles (Latin Picatrix), destroy ligature spells, and to dissolve charms against copulation (Celestial Magic).

The image in the Latin Picatrix for Alawway is a red man embracing a white woman. This is an image of opposites joining into a harmonious whole. The sexual overtones of this image suggest that each of the opposites desires unity with the other and the power dynamic is more or less equitable.

Friday, November 14th, 2025. The Moon is in Alawway, the Barker, at the beginning of November 14th. At 12:33am the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Azimech, the Spike. The phase is Waning Crescent, which is best for works of endings and removals.

The Moon will travel through Azimech for 25 hours and 10 minutes. This is slow and it is 32 minutes longer than the previous Mansion so the Moon is slowing down. A slow Moon can make magic last longer but it can also delay the manifestation of magical effects. 

A wrathful Alawway can be called upon to bind nobles (Latin Picatrix), destroy ligature spells, and to dissolve charmed against copulation (Celestial Magic).

The image in the Latin Picatrix for Alawway is a red man embracing a white woman. This is an image of oppisites joining into a harmonious whole. The sexual overtones of this image suggest that each of the opposites desires unity with the other and the power dynamic is more or less equitable.

The wrathful powers of Azimech are ruining farms and newly planted trees, damaging trusts, harming travelers (Gayat al Hakim), cutting off and enmity (Ibn Hatim), destroy harvests, destroy lust, the destruction of those who go by roads, separating men from women (Latin Picatrix), hindereth journeys by land (Agrippa), disperse inappropriate sexual desire, and cause separation (Celestial Magic).

The Moon will travel through Algafra for 25 hours and 32 minutes. This is slow and it is 22 minutes longer than the previous Mansion so the Moon is slowing down. A slow Moon can make magic take longer to take effect and it may make magic longer lasting.

The Moon is in Algafra at the end of November 15th.

Sunday, November 16th, 2025. The Moon is in Algafra, the Covering, at the beginning of November 16th. At 3:15am the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Azubene, the Horns of the Scorpion. The phase is Waning Crescent, which is best for works of obscuring and destruction. 

The Moon will travel through Azubene for 25 hours and 48 minutes. This is slow and it is 16 minutes longer than the previous Mansion so the Moon continues to slow down. A slow Moon can make magic take longer to manifest but it may also prolong the effects of magic. 

The wrathful powers of Algafra are obstructing a traveler from making his trip, creating discord between spouses, spoiling friendships and partnerships (Gayat al Hakim), destruction of the house of your enemy (Latin Picatrix), helpeth forward divorce, discord, and the destruction of houses and enemies, hindereth travelers (Agrippa), project a curse and inflict discord, hinderance, and rupture on enemies (Celestial Magic).

Lunar Mansion Report, November 3, 2025 to November 9, 2025

 This is an entry in a continuing series of posts looking at the Moon's position and condition in the week ahead with an eye to the Mansions of the Moon. This is an exercise to help me track the speed of the Moon, organize my thoughts on the Mansions, and think about the practical applications. 

All times are for me locally, United States Pacific Time. I will be making note of the Moon's phase, speed, and Mansion position in my assessment. Currently, I'm not considering aspects with other planets.

Lunar Mansion Report, November 3, 2025 to November 9, 2025.

Monday, November 3rd, 2025. The Moon is in Alnath, the Butting One, when November 3rd begins. At 4:47am the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Albotayn, the Little Belly. The phase is Waxing Gibbous, which is best for works of increase and elaboration. 

The Moon will travel through Albotayn for 20 hours and 39 minutes. This is quite fast. It is also 29 minutes less than the previous Mansion so the Moon is speeding up. A fast Moon may make magic happen quickly but may also make magic fade quickly. 

The beneficial powers of Alnath include guarding against demolition and crushing (Ibn Hatim), travel safely, and improve the efficacy of laxative medicines (Gayat al Hakim, Latin Picatrix, and Agrippa).

The image in the Latin Picatrix for Alnath is a a black man with his hair wrapped and encircled, standing on his feet, having a spear in his right hand in the manner of a warrior. Alnath is a rather grim Mansion in which works of destruction are empowered.

The beneficial powers of Albotayn are assistance in digging wells, achieving wishes, and digging out buried treasure (Gayat al Hakim), meeting kings and getting everything you hope for (Ibn Hatim), dig for streams and wells, to find hidden treasures, and for the planting of a great deal of wheat, the removal of anger (Latin Picatrix), against the wrath of a prince (Agrippa), and to conjure spirits to reveal hidden treasure (Celestial Magic).

The image in the Latin Picatrix for Albotayn is a king on a throne. The approximate Chinese Seiu that corresponds to Albotayn is The Storeroom. Combined with the talismanic purposes of digging wells and finding hidden treasure, in my mind, the king is an underworld figure, a king in his sepulcher, surrounded by his riches.

Tuesday, November 4th, 2025. The Moon is in Albotayn, the Little Belly, at the beginning of November 4th. At 1:26am the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Azoraye, the Many Little Ones. Then at 9:46pm the Moon will move into a third Mansion, Aldebaran, the Bull's Eye. The phase is Waxing Gibbous, which strengthens works of addition and multiplication. 

The Moon will travel through Azoraye for 20 hours and 23 minutes. This is fast and it is 16 minutes less than the last Mansion so the Moon continues to speed up. A fast Moon may make magic happen quickly but may also make magic dissipate quickly.

Given the overwhelming positivity associated with this Mansion this is most likely a gesture of blessing. The traditional indicator stars for this Mansion are the Pleiades, the Seven Sisters, a grouping of stars with a long and legendary past. The Pleiades are one of the 15 Behenian stars whose powers include, according to Agrippa, "brings an increase to light of the eyes, collects daemons, promotes winds, and reveals secrets and hidden things." And the image is "a virgin girl or the figure of a torch".

The beneficial aspects of Aldebaran are to kill and bind reptiles and venomous animals (Latin Picatrix), attract honor and riches, and promote irresistible endurance (Celestial Magic).

The image of Aldebaran in the Latin Picatrix is a knight on horseback holding a viper in his hand. This image is very similar to more than a few goetic spirits from the Lemegeton. A wrathful Aldebaran is the king killer. 

The Moon is in Aldebaran at the end of November 4th. 

Wednesday, November 5th, 2025. The Moon is in Aldebaran, the Bull's Eye, at the beginning of November 5th. At 5:54pm the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Almices, the Brilliant One. The phase at there beginning of the day is Waxing Gibbous, which supports works of building and strengthening. At 5:19am the Moon makes an opposition aspect with the Sun, the Full Moon, and then the phase becomes Waning Gibbous, which is wrathful and supports works of diminishment and decline.

The Moon will travel through Aldebaran for 20 hours and 7 minutes. This is extremely fast and the fastest the Moon will travel through a Mansion this cycle. It is also 16 minutes less than the previous Mansion so the Moon is speeding up. A fast Moon may make magic manifest quickly but may also make it fade quickly. 

The beneficial aspects of Aldebaran are to kill and bind reptiles and venomous animals (Latin Picatrix), attract honor and riches, and promote irresistible endurance (Celestial Magic).

Sunday, November 9th, 2025. The Moon is in Annathra, the Gap at the beginning of November 9th. At 4:17am the Moon moves into the next Mansion, Atarfa, the Glance of the Lion. The phase is Waning Gibbous which is best for works of hinderance and destabilization. 

The Moon will travel through Annathra for 21 hours and 11 minutes. This is fast but it is 28 minutes longer than the previous Mansion so the Moon is slowing down. A fast Moon can make magic happen quickly but may also make magic fade quickly. 

The wrathful powers of Annathra include lengthening the imprisionment of captives and prisoners, the deterioration of kingdoms, to repel mice and bedbugs (Ghayat al Hakim), the destruction and affliction of captives (Latin Picatrix), war-magic, drive away infestations, and powerfully restrain negative forces (Celestial Magic).
